TITLE:                                  COUNSELOR – COMMUNITY SCHOOL

 

QUALIFICATIONS:          

     1.   High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

  1. Evidence of successful experience working with children
  2. Evidence of the ability to work effectively with people in a group
  3. Positive attitude, confidentiality, sense of humor and flexibility
  4. Required criminal history background check and proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status
  5. Required Mantoux test

 

REPORTS TO:                     Lead Counselor and/or Coordinator for the Community School

 

JOB GOAL:                          To promote the achievement of students’ educational goals                                                and learning objectives by providing supplemental services                                                under the direction of the Lead Counselor and to assist in non-                                            teaching duties in such a manner as to enhance the total                                                    school program.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Assists the teacher in general classroom activities.
  2. Oversees the program as outlined and directed by the Lead Counselor and/or Coordinator for the Community School.
  3. Assists with the set-up of the classroom and prepares materials for the program.
  4. Constructs bulletin boards as directed by the Lead Counselor.
  5. Escorts children to/from various rooms and to/from the buses.
  6. Handles attendance reports and related clerical functions as directed by the Lead Counselor.
  7. Assists the Lead Counselor in maintaining discipline.
  8. Assists the Lead Counselor in other functions deemed appropriate by the Lead Counselor and/or Coordinator for the Community School.
