TITLE: COUNSELOR – COMMUNITY SCHOOL
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Evidence of successful experience working with children
- Evidence of the ability to work effectively with people in a group
- Positive attitude, confidentiality, sense of humor and flexibility
- Required criminal history background check and proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status
- Required Mantoux test
REPORTS TO: Lead Counselor and/or Coordinator for the Community School
JOB GOAL: To promote the achievement of students’ educational goals and learning objectives by providing supplemental services under the direction of the Lead Counselor and to assist in non- teaching duties in such a manner as to enhance the total school program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the teacher in general classroom activities.
- Oversees the program as outlined and directed by the Lead Counselor and/or Coordinator for the Community School.
- Assists with the set-up of the classroom and prepares materials for the program.
- Constructs bulletin boards as directed by the Lead Counselor.
- Escorts children to/from various rooms and to/from the buses.
- Handles attendance reports and related clerical functions as directed by the Lead Counselor.
- Assists the Lead Counselor in maintaining discipline.
- Assists the Lead Counselor in other functions deemed appropriate by the Lead Counselor and/or Coordinator for the Community School.
